Tips: lose weight easily and quickly at home
Many people would like to stay healthy and fit, but how exactly do you do that? A good diet combined with adequate exercise can help you do this! We have listed some tips for you below that will get you started on the road to achieving your goals!
Foods you’re better off skipping
Nutrition is the most important thing when it comes to losing weight, however, many foods normally contain a lot of unhealthy carbohydrates that actually make you fat! If you want to lose weight, make it easy on yourself and stop eating the following foods immediately:
- White bread
- White pasta
- Alcohol
- Fastfood
- Soft drinks (including fruit juices!)
- Light products
- Chocolate
- Candy
- Cake
- Desserts
Tip: Never get the above products into your home! Except on a really special occasion. It’s that simple! Of course, a pastry on occasion should be allowed, but do it in moderation!
What exactly is better to eat and drink?
A good nutrition plan can look slightly different for everyone, it also has to do with external factors such as how much you exercise and what preferences or, for example, allergies you have. There are some guidelines we recommend you follow:
Protein-rich meals
Protein makes you feel satiated for a long time, which is why we recommend always including a good portion of protein in your meal. There are different sources of protein, both animal and vegetable. Below we have listed them for you:
Animal proteins:
Meat, fish and dairy products. To lose weight, we recommend lean meat or fish such as chicken breast or a pangasius fillet, for example. Low-fat cottage cheese, eggs and low-fat cheese such as emmental are also great for losing weight and are packed with protein.
Plant proteins:
Legumes. Peas, soybeans, corn or lentils are most suitable. There are now also many plant-based dairy products, such as yogurt or milk.
Whole grain products
Obviously, you cannot live on protein and vegetables alone; your body also needs carbohydrates. For both pasta, bread, rice and potatoes, there are good alternatives available with slow carbohydrates that make you less likely to get fat. Plus these alternative ones are also a lot healthier for you! You’ll find them below:
- Choose whole grain pasta instead of white pasta.
- Choose unpolished rice instead of white rice.
- Choose whole wheat bread instead of wheat or white bread.
- Choose sweet potato instead of potatoes.
Fruit and vegetables
Whether you like to lose weight or not, fruits and vegetables are important for your body at all times! They provide important vitamins and fiber that your body needs. But which fruit or vegetable is best? It doesn’t really matter. The more colorful your plate the better!
Drink lots of water
Drinking lots of water promotes weight loss, this is because drinking water depresses cravings and because it stimulates your body’s fat burning. It is also important to drink extra plenty of water while exercising!
Exercising at home without devices
As a beginner, it can be difficult to start working out at home, often people have doubts about whether they are going to keep it up so purchasing a piece of sports equipment is not always immediately preferable.
You can easily start exercising at home in an approachable way by doing some exercises we have listed for you! All of these exercises can be done without sports equipment, and you don’t need an expensive subscription to a gym.
1. Burpees
Target muscles: your entire body.
Breathing: inhale as you go deep into the plank, exhale as you come up.
Easy: do Beginner Burpees and skip the jump.
Heavy: jump into the plank position and add another push-up.
2. Squats
Target muscles: front and back of your thighs, glutes.
Breathing: inhale as you go down, exhale as you come back up.
Easy: Air Squats with your own body weight.
Heavy: Jumping Squats.
3. Lunges
Target muscles: leg and buttock muscles.
Breathing: inhale when you bend your legs, exhale when you extend them.
Easy: step alternately forward and backward.
Heavy: add a weight or choose Bulgarian Split Squats.
4. Shelves
Target muscles: core muscles.
Breathing: breathe in and out evenly.
Easy: keep your knees to the floor.
Heavy: keep your legs extended and take turns lifting one leg off the floor.

Other factors causing weight loss to fail
A healthy diet plan and adequate exercise are a good foundation for losing weight, but of course there can be other roadblocks. Stress is more important during weight loss than you think! Indeed, stress and losing weight absolutely do not go hand in hand. Therefore, schedule sports moments only when you are completely in a state of relaxation.
